Requirements for Candidates
Who is eligible to enlist in the military on a contract basis?
With or without military service experience
Both citizens who have previously completed compulsory or contract military service and those who have no prior military experience but meet the established requirements are eligible to sign a contract. A mandatory requirement is passing a professional screening and a medical examination.

Citizens of the Russian Federation, as well as foreign nationals legally residing in Russia, are eligible to enlist under a contract. Foreign nationals who sign a contract undergo a screening and selection process.

Male citizens aged 18 and older who meet the health requirements and are fully fit for service may enlist in the military under a contract. The maximum age for signing a contract is 50.
